Mystery Scrap Week 20 (Friday)

Today's post is going to be delayed. LOVE having my husband home more often, but it is definitely slowing down my scrapping.  If you want a preview of this week's page inspiration and you happen to subscribe to Scrapbooks etc Magazine - it's the layout on page 100.  I've been unable to find a blog for Shannon Zickel whose page it is, so tonight I will have to figure out how to post it so you can see!

Mystery Scrap Week 20 (Wednesday)

This is another page that will come together super fast!  And, it requires very little in the way of embellishments.  Gather up the following and come back by on Friday to see how it all fits together.
12x12 solid color (for background)
3 skinny strips of patterned paper or ribbon (or a combination) You can border punch the paper for added interest if you like.
Cricut cut letters or chipboard (or some of each for a multi-word title)
2-3 embellishments (~1.5-2” in size)
3 or 4 tiny embellishments – brads, rhinestones, i-rock gems, etc.
Tiny scrap of white or light colored paper & scrap of colored cardstock – for subtitle (if desired)

Mystery Scrap Week 20 (Monday)

Time to switch it up and use some portrait oriented pictures this week!  You will need 4 that are each 2.25”x3.25” (so you can fit two to a 4x6 print out).  Or you can create a photo strip in your photo editing program.  You will want a one or two word title and there will be room for up to 8 or 9 lines of journaling 4.5”-5” wide each.

Mystery Scrap Week 19 (Friday)

So this was kind of tricky trying to figure out how link to this picture.  This was a page by Sherrie that was posted to the Flickr website for the May LOAD challenge - I tried to locate a blog for her, but didn't find one. Hopefully you'll be able to follow this link to see the page I'm talking about.  If not, let me know and I'll figure out another way to show it to you! Click here for link!

Here is my page which will be the left side of a two page spread about the Crop for a Cure Fundraiser back in May.  I love the colors, the patterned papers & the embellishments (which were some that were included in the goodie bags).  Makes me excited to start planning the 2012 Crop for a Cure!

Supplies that you will need for this week's page are:

letter stickers (or cricut letters, chipboard letters, etc)
2 embellishments (or punches) 1"-1.5" (preferably two different sizes)

Journaling - a couple lines - you can type these if you want - approx 3" wide and double space at least to allow you to cut into journaling strips.

Mystery Scrap Week 19 (Monday)

I love this week's inspiration layout! I stumbled upon it today while I was blog surfing. Is that a term?  Anyway - my first thought when I saw it - was that I knew which patterned paper I wanted to use for the background. A large multi-colored polka dot background - then I was going to pick pictures to go with it.  Unfortunately, I must've used all of that paper so I had to go to plan B.  For this page - you will need a 4x4 square photo and a 4x6 or 4x5 landscape photo. I think you'll like how this one turns out too!  This'll be a good week to jump back in and play along!

Mystery Scrap Week 18 (Friday)

This is the page that was our inspiration for the week.
In case you haven't noticed it yet, I love Clean & Simple pages - lots of "white" space (which doesn't necessarily have to be white).  I also really like grid designs - they look so neat & clean.  So this one combines several of the elements that draw me to a design.  I hope you like it!  Here is my page - I replaced one of the 3x3 pieces of patterned paper with another picture and kept the additional embellishments to a minimum.

I will have to make some changes as I really don't like the red gems, but that'll have to wait for another day!

Post your version of this week's Mystery Scrap to our Flickr Group with the tag Mystery18.

Organizational Find

My husband recently started his own business and has been spending lots of time at Staples.  A couple weeks ago, he came home and said I found something at Staples that I think you'd really like... So, the next time we were out that way he had to stop in for something I said Ok - show me what you thought I'd like!  And THIS
is what he led me to.  Is it super stylish? Nope.  But, it's very functional and pretty inexpensive & that's pretty much how I roll.  It was $15 and you can actually buy these fantastic little boxes individually in multiple sizes - here is a picture of at least 3 of the sizes - and I think there might at least one more size larger than the biggest pictured here.
They are called "Really Useful Box"es which just cracks me up.  I have several already that I use for excess punched pieces - for example, the Stampin Up! 2 step owls or the cupcake punch.  When mass producing treats for the kids classes or birthday party invitations - I always punch more than what I need for that project because I know they might later make the perfect addition to a page or help you make a quick & simple card for someone.  You can also use paper scraps that aren't big enough to be worth saving, and see if you can get a couple punches out of them. They could also be used to store little bits & pieces like brads, buttons, flowers, etc.

Mystery Scrap Week 18 (Monday)

Our page this week is another super simple one!  You will need 1 landscape oriented 4x6 picture. Your title can be one word or multi-word and the journaling should be just a couple lines worth. Stop back tomorrow for a cute organizational find!

Mystery Scrap Week 17 (Friday)

I hope everyone had a great week & that you all get to do some scrapping this weekend. This page is such a simple one, it should come together in a matter of minutes.  DON'T overthink the placement of the bits & pieces & strips of paper.  Just slap 'em all down!
Here is our inspiration page for the week...
And here is my take on it.
Very simple, very quick to put together. It's by no means a work of art, but it is a sweet reminder of a thoughtful gift my girls made for Chris this year for Father's Day. I'll take it!
Have a great weekend and post your page to the Flickr Group with the tag Mystery 17. If you don't know how to do that, leave a comment and I can help!

Mystery Scrap Week 17 (Monday)

This week's Mystery Scrap page is super super easy! If you haven't had time to play along with us for a while, this is a good one to use to get going again!  All you need is 2 landscape oriented photos ~ 3 tall by 4 wide. These dimensions are approximate - you could do any landscape size, but keep it shorter than 6" wide!
Title should be one word. Journaling - if you have some - you will be able to put anywhere. But, it's not necessary to the page design if the pictures/title can tell the story without journaling! See you Wednesday for step 2!

Mystery Scrap Week 16 (Friday)

It's Friday & it's a Holiday weekend!  Hope everyone gets to enjoy 3 days off!
Click here to check out the page that this week's Mystery Scrap is based on... It's by Maggie Holmes who is one of the Dream Team members for Creating Keepsakes.  I just adore this page - the clean & simple look, the grid-like design, the colors - yellow & grey are so popular right now and I love the pink to go with it!

Here is my take - I have a 1 3/8 circle punch, but not 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 to get the tag-like effect, so I used by 1 3/8 punch and cut the black cardstock to 1 1/2 with my paper trimmer. Upload your interpretation of this layout to our Flickr Group page with the tag Mystery16!  Everyone have a great weekend - see you back here Monday for Week 17!
