Mystery Scrap '12 Week 14 - Wednesday

Yes, it's Thursday, not Wednesday! I know!
Supplies for this week - 1 piece of patterned paper cut into an approximately 9" circle - can be a bit bigger or smaller. I used one that had a repetitive grid of Disney characters on it and the inspiration page also uses a grid with different colored squares. The squares cut into a circle give a neat effect, but any patterned paper should work.
1 piece of 12x12 cardstock for your background
2 large white circles & 2 scallop circles either the same color or 2 different colors on which to mat the white circles
2 6" border punched pieces
1 4" border punched piece of a different shape (or small punched shapes put together to form a border (I used tiny hearts)
5-10 small embellishments (buttons, small punches, gems, etc)

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 14 - Monday

So, I JUST realized I never posted my page on Friday. That's probably because I don't feel like it's complete yet.  I haven't done any journaling and don't think the page needs it story-wise, but I do think it needs it design-wise.  I'm trying to finish up my Disney album before the Crop (May 5). Some of these last few pages are just pictures with the different characters at Hollywood Studios. There's not really much to say about them. :-(
Anyway - this week, the page we're making will be 3 portrait sized pictures - 2.5"x3.75" tall.  I matted mine with a white mat. Check back Wednesday for the rest of the supplies needed and have a great week!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 13 - Friday

Hope everyone is having a good week so far. This week's inspiration page is "sidewalk chalk" by Mary Ann Jenkins.  Here is the link to it.

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 13 - Wednesday

OOOHHHH!!!!  We had a meeting about Crop for a Cause last night and I'm even more pumped than I was before. Add to the fact that we're just about booked already and I'm flying high!
Supplies for this week's page:
1 piece of 12x12 for background
stickers or Pazzles/Cricut cut letters or chipboard - I used a different color for each word in my title. The inspiration page artist used one color for the first word and a different color for each letter in the second word.
Grab your circle punch and paper scraps - I used 7 different patterned/solid color papers - the inspiration page used 3.
You'll also need a scrap (one of the same as above) .5"x3"
You can journal right on the page OR you can print journaling on the color paper fed through you printer (if it's 12x12, cut it down to 8.5x11 and print as wide as you can. That will give the appearance of it being printed on your background paper - or pop it up with dimensionals to give it a neat effect!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 13 - Monday

Good morning Scrappers!  We had a lovely weekend - the girls went to their Grandmom & Granddad's house for the weekend and Chris & I went to two movies on Saturday (The Hunger Games & 21 Jumpstreet) with some Carraba's in between!  Then Sunday I worked on this week's page before we met everyone for lunch. The afternoon was spent cleaning up and I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take all that long to get the house looking ship shape!  Cooper got another bath. It's now about 5 weeks post-skunking and he still smells terrible when it rains (which it did A LOT) this weekend. Anyway... on to this week's page. You'll need 1 photo that is 5x7 portrait (or it could be 5x6 or 4.5 x 6). Then, you have a couple choices - you could do a landscape 4x6 or 2 portraits printed on a 4x6.  I used a 4.5x6.25 with a 4.75x 6.5 mat and 2 4"tall by 3" wide portrait matted the same as my larger portrait. Check back Wednesday to find out what supplies you'll need to complete the page!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 12 Friday

The page that was the inspiration for this week's Mystery Scrap is one by Lisa Dickinson.  Check it out here.
My even more simple version of that layout is below.

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 12 Wednesday

To create this page, you'll want to pull together the following supplies...
1 piece of 12x12 background paper (solid color)
6 mats in a contrasting color for the 2.5"x3.5" pictures
qty 6 - # of pictures you selected from Monday - solid color cardstock 2.5"x3.5"
sticker border OR punched shapes - I used several different sizes of stars to create a border effect or you could use a repetitive punch like a circle and jazz it up
title stickers/Cricut or Pazzles letters

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 12 Monday

Ok - this week I'm getting back on track! (I hope!)
The page for this week will require anywhere from 3-5 portrait oriented pictures that are 2.5"x3.5" (to be matted) OR 2.75"x3.75" if you don't plan to mat them.
There will be a grid with 6 spaces, so, if you have a lot of journaling, use fewer pictures so you can have more than one journaling spot. Makes sense?
See you back here Weds!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 11 Friday

I feel like a slacker when it comes to my little blog right now. Fortunately, the reasons for my slackerness on the blog stem from working on my "balance" of everything else.  I'm keeping my house in shape, my laundry mostly caught up & exercising more regularly than I have in quite a while. On top of that, the plans for Crop for a Cause are moving right along. SO - please bear with me over the next couple months. Hopefully, my posts will be more timely, but I'm not promising anything!
So - the supplies you'll need for this week's page are pretty minimal.
One square of solid color or patterned paper the same size as your pictures. and letter stickers, cricut/Pazzles cut letters.  I created the pages digitally, but you could run white cardstock through your printer and mount on white 12x12 to achieve a similar effect. My plan is to do these interviews with the girls each year around their birthdays. Now, I wonder if I could get Chris to do one, too...

Mystery Scrap Week '12 Week 11

I still haven't posted Wednesday and Friday for last week's Mystery Scrap. I will, I promise, just not sure exactly when. We had a fun-filled weekend, but unfortunately that didn't include any scrapbook time for me!
This week, I want to do something a little different.  I'll tell you ahead of time, this week's page is based on a page/template by Cathy Zielske.  She's written several books on Clean & Simple Scrapbooking. Her pages are just that - clean & simple and I love her style. Back when I was doing my first Layout a Day (I think it was the first one I did) - I saw tons of people doing this as their page and thought  it was such a neat idea. So during this LOAD, I made it a point to do one of these pages for each of my girls.
You will need to pick one person and find 2-3 square pictures of them 2.75x2.75 or 3x3.
On Wednesday, I'll give you not only the supplies that you'll need for this (which aren't many since it's Clean & Simple!) but also interview questions to ask the person that you've picked. This could be a child, a parent, your husband or a friend. You could even do an imaginary one with your cat or dog! If you are interviewing an adult and certain questions don't seem to pertain, come up with a new one. Be creative!
Ok - see you Wednesday!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 10 - Monday

This week's Mystery Scrap includes 4 portrait oriented pictures that are 2.75"w by 4" tall. I printed mine with a white border. So, if you want to print, then mat them, use 2.5x3.75 as your dimensions. Check back Wednesday to see what supplies you'll need!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 9 Friday

I'm happy to say that Layout a Day is now officially done. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE LOVE LOVE doing it, but by the end of the month, I've let a lot of things slide and am ready to get everything back to normal.  This is the inspiration page - it's by Lisa Dickinson and was featured on Debbie Hodge's Get It Scrapped Blog. Check it out here. Scroll down to where it says Looking at 3 Layouts by Lisa Dickenson and it's the one with the title Colorful all the way on the left.
I changed mine a little bit by rotating it and only using 7 photos and I put my journaling in the 8th spot.  I didn't use any many handdrawn grid lines and I kept the title very simple - using letters cut from my Pazzles - using the same colors I used to mat the photos.

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 9 Wednesday

Sorry this is so late. Totally blanked on it last night.
Not much needed in the way of supplies this week.
1 12x12 piece of solid color cardstock
A variety of letters (stickers, chipboard, etc) - different colors & shapes will work
small journaling block (a punched piece will work, too)
small embellishment or 2-3" portion of  a border punched piece

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 9 - Monday

Layout a Day is starting to catch up with me. I'm waaaaay behind on laundry even after the weekend, but I'm still keeping up. Have now completed 26+ pages (the + is because I've done at least one or two two-page spreads).
For this week's Mystery Scrap page, you will need 7 or 8 landscape oriented photos 1 7/8" tall by 2 7/8" wide.
For Layout a Day, I've been working on general pages, pages to finish up my Disney Album & catching up with Project Life from the beginning of the year.  And I have to tell ya I will never buy another post bound album. Ever Ever Ever! I was trying to move things around in my Mickey Mouse album - it is a pain in the butt.  I needed to add pages to it and I think I bought the wrong post extenders. The pages that I bought are slightly bigger than the pages meant for that album AND the holes are not in the right places.  Yes, I realize that all of that is "user error" and if I had bothered to look at the brand of album (which by the way is not shown anywhere on the actual album) I may not have had these issues, but still.  Add to that taking the spine off and putting it back together and I'm ready to scrap the album and buy a D-Ring just to avoid the hassle. Ok, getting off my soap box so I can get to work on time!  Everyone have a great week!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 8 - Friday

Happy Friday everyone. I have no idea why, but this work week just seemed to crawl by.  Looking forward to a fun-filled weekend and somehow have to cram in some cleaning & relaxing...  Anyway - I'm still on track for Layout a Day which means I've now done a page each day so far in February - 23 so far. Not bad, eh? The Mystery Scrap layout for this week is based on this page from Diana at Wicky Sticket - it's been a while since we've done one of her pages!  And here is my page scraplifting her design!  Have a great weekend!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 8 - Wednesday

Supplies you will need are:
1 piece of 12x12 cardstock (solid color works)
1 strip 1.25"w x12" long patterned paper
1 strip 1"w x12" long patterned paper
1 strip 3/4"wx12" long patterned paper
1 border punched strip
2 border strip stickers
5 or more embellishments (I used word epoxy stickers)

stickers for your title .5"-1" tall

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 8 - Monday

This week, the Mystery Scrap page calls for 3 landscape oriented 4x6's.  We'll be trimming a little off the height of each one, but not a whole lot... just thought you should know in case you want to make adjustments before printing/having printed. See ya Wednesday if not before!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 7 - Friday

I don't remember if we've done any pages from the Two peas in a bucket gallery before, but it is an unbelievable source of inspiration.  This week's page is by Karen and it's a digi page, but a super easy one to replicate as a paper layout.  Check it out here.
My version is a picture of my adorable new nephew over Christmas.  HOW CUTE IS HE??? I finally busted into my new Bella Blvd Christmas Wishes that my sister gave me for Christmas. I can't tell you how easy that line is to work with.  I know I've talked about Bella Blvd before, but their stuff just fits my style of scrapbooking so well. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the new lines that they debuted at CHA & have been previewing on their blog for weeks now...

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 7 - Wednesday

Fasten your seatbelts - this page is going to come together so fast, you won't believe it!
You'll need 1 piece of 12x12 solid color cardstock
Grab a circle punch - I used 1 3/8", but 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" would work also
Scraps of coordinating patterned papers will be perfect - you will need 2 circles each of 6 papers
(if you want to use 4 each of 3 papers that would work too - or whatever combination you want)
Border punch two pieces 6" or so of one of the patterns or a solid color that coordinates
You might want to mat your picture - so grab a solid color for that and you can decide when you see the examples on Friday.
Letters for your title (I used cardstock sticker letters & some tiny letters for a 2 word title)
One embellishment or sticker that goes with the theme of your page
I'll tell you right now - I printed my picture yesterday, but deciding on my supplies, and assembling this page took all of 25 minutes. AND I will SOOOOO use this design again. Very simple, but I love the result.
See you Friday for the final step of Mystery Scrap this week!

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 7 - Monday

1 landscape picture is all you will need this week - around 4"w by 2.5" tall.  It doesn't have to be exact - I'm using a 2.75" x 3.75" because I couldn't crop my picture correctly at 4"x2.5".
Anyone have big plans for Valentine's Day?  My hubby and I really don't celebrate it, but I've got the girls' class parties, goodies for the teachers and staff at the school and, of course, treats for the kids' classes that we made together this weekend.  Check back later in the week for pictures of all the fun stuff...

Mystery Scrap '12 Week 6 - Friday

I've now made it through 9 days of Layout a Day and I'm still going strong... only 20 more to go! The inspiration for this page came from blog.silhouette.america.com  However, after longer than I should have spent searching for it, I was unable to find it - so here is a picture of it.  Check out the blog anyway if you'd like.

I mentioned earlier in the week that it makes me laugh every time I see this page... Now you'll get to see why. I took a lot of liberties with this one, but I tried to keep the fun factor and I used similar placement of the photo, a few embellishments & the title treatment.  I think this is a great design to highlight a relationship or an emotion rather than focusing on an event.  This is a picture of my (now) husband and my little sister - she thought it would be funny to try to smash a banana in his face (most likely as a result of him teasing her about something) and it kind of backfired on her.  This is a picture from probably at least 15 years ago and I love it for so many reasons - I can tell it was taken in my parents family room and can see one of my mom's Hawaiian quilts on the wall. Chris is wearing one of his favorite plaid shirts & his Sigma Chi letters. Court's wearing her Washington College sweatshirt... not to mention I love the fact that they have always gotten along so well - Chris really considers her his little sister and she sometimes will tell him things she won't even tell me!  Anyway - I didn't plan it this way, but it worked out well - today is Courtney's birthday - so everyone send her some Happy Birthday wishes!  Have a great weekend!
